Teaching Innovation in Education: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities in Teaching and Learning
Innovation in education is advancing rapidly, particularly at the intersection of technology and inclusion. As educators look for more effective ways to support diverse learners, Virtual Reality (VR) is emerging as a powerful tool for creating accessible, engaging, and personalised learning experiences.
We are proud to share that partners from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) have published work exploring the role of VR in inclusive education. Their research examines how immersive technologies can support neurodivergent learners, including students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other diverse learning profiles.
The study presents qualitative findings from educators and support professionals, highlighting VR’s potential to enhance cognitive, social, communicative, and emotional skills. It emphasises how virtual environments can provide safe spaces for practice, increase engagement and attention, and offer learners a greater sense of control — all key factors in inclusive educational settings.
This publication strengthens the evidence base around VR in education and aligns closely with the InclusiVRity project’s mission to promote meaningful, research-informed integration of immersive technologies in inclusive classrooms.
