UAB Presents InclusiVRity at the International Congress on Teaching Innovation in Higher Education
This week, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) presented InclusiVRity: Advancing Accessibility for Neurodivergent Students Through Virtual Reality in Secondary Education at the International Congress on Teaching Innovation in Higher Education: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities in Teaching and Learning.
The congress took place online on 17, 18 and 19 November and in person in Madrid on 20 and 21 November. Organized by the SEJ 473 Research Group of the University of Almería together with Research and Training in Psychology, Education and Health, the event promotes a multidisciplinary meeting space for educators from all fields of knowledge. Its goal is to encourage the exchange of experiences, innovative teaching methodologies and research related to teaching innovation in higher education.
Representing the project team, Aikaterini Tsaousi, project manager of InclusiVRity, presented an overview of the project, including its objectives, methodology, guidebook structure and the Virtual Reality social stories designed to support neurodivergent students in secondary education. She also outlined the expected outcomes of the project and highlighted how virtual reality can contribute to more accessible and inclusive learning environments.
The presentation was very positively received by attendees, who showed great interest in the topic and engaged actively with questions and reflections. The positive feedback confirms the growing importance of innovative tools like virtual reality in supporting diverse learners and strengthening accessibility in education.
